Unaccompanied Junior Permits
Reading & District Angling Association (RDAA) is keen to encourage young anglers. We allow Juniors between 12 and 17 yrs to fish unaccompanied by an adult member providing they behave in a safe and responsible manner, hold an Environment Agency rod licence*, do not disturb other anglers and abide by our rules and code of conduct. To fish any RDAA water from 1st July 2025 they must be in possession of an Unaccompanied Junior Members Permit together with the current RDAA Clubmate permit.
* Apply for a free (13-16yrs) junior rod licence here - https://www.gov.uk/fishing-licences/buy-a-fishing-licence

One landing net and unhooking mat per angler
-
No litter whatsoever no matter who left it.
-
Do not leave rods or tackle unattended
-
No running or shouting on the banks
-
No non-angling ‘mates’
-
Carry your permit at all times, including this one.
-

-
Float fishing only at Willmott’s Pool - 6lb line minimum

Permit Breaches
All permits remain the property of the Association and we reserve the right to withdraw them at any time for breaching our rules. However, for unaccompanied Juniors a formal warning will normally be given by a club bailiff or official and your Unaccompanied Junior Members Permit will be endorsed for six months.
A second rule breach will automatically result in the removal of this permit and you will only be able to enter and fish on RDAA waters if accompanied by an adult member.
A third rule breach will trigger a disciplinary hearing at which your main permit may be removed for an indefinite period.
Better Fishing Academy
RDAA has a full programme of coaching and fishing clinics to help you improve your fishing skills and catch more and bigger fish. We would love to see some of our junior members go on to be the angling stars of the future. Please check out our tuition page for more details.
