Froxfield Canal
LEAVE M4 AT JUNCTION 14 AND TRAVEL ON A338 TOWARDS HUNGERFORD WHERE IT JOINS THE A4. TURN RIGHT ON A4 TOWARDS MARLBOROUGH THEN TURN LEFT FOLLOWING THE SIGNS TO LITTLE BEDWYN.
PARKING FOR B SECTION CAN BE SIDE OF ROAD OFF OF THE BRIDGE.
PARKING FOR A SECTION REQUIRES TURNING RIGHT OFF OF THE BRIDGE AND PARKING NEXT TO THE CANAL WHEN IT COMES INTO VIEW.
PARKING FOR C SECTION REQUIRES PULLING OVER ON THE A4 BEFORE THE BEDWYN TURN AND USING ROAD SIDE OPPOSITE COBLANDS, ACCESS TO THE VENUE IS VIA FOOTPATH THROUGH THE FIELD.
FROXFIELD
Stretching to nearly 3000 yrds and covering three sections, by many, this venue is regarded as our jewel in the crown.
With good fishing all year round and 20lb bags possible during the winter months, it’s easy to see why. All expected species show in good numbers and specimen sizes with some very good roach coming through in recent years.
Lure anglers enjoy this venue for its quality perch and numbers of pike.
Good shoals of bream and Tench are present on all sections.

Midgham Canal
FROM JUNCTION 12 M4 TAKE A4 TOWARDS NEWBURY, CONTINUE FOR 4 MILES TO ROUNDABOUT WITH A340 ALDERMASTON. CONTINUE ON A4, THROUGH WOOLHAMPTON VILLAGE AND IN 2 MILES TURN LEFT SIGNPOSTED BRIMPTON. VENUE AND SIDE OF ROAD PARKING ON LEFT.
MIDGHAM
An interesting venue, a good all season fishery with Carp, Chub, Bream, Roach, Perch and Pike to specimen sizes throughout with a chance of small barbel at the stream inlet.
Some large carp have been known to make an appearance in recent years
The bottom section is fished from the other bank with access being made by crossing the lock.

Salmon Cut
FROM JUNCTION 12 M4 TAKE A4 TOWARDS NEWBURY, CONTINUE FOR 4 MILES TO ROUNDABOUT WITH A340 ALDERMASTON. CONTINUE ON A4, TAKE 2ND LEFT FROUDS LANE. SIDE OF ROAD CAR PARKING IN FROUDS LANE FROM A4.
SALMON CUT
Split into 2 sections with the upper section having a slight river influence and as a result has thrown up some specimen dace and good chub in the past.
Good average match bags throughout the venue with Perch, Tench and Bream showing fairly regularly.
The bottom end comes into it’s own during the colder months with good perch and Roach captures coming from the moored boat areas.

Padworth Rota
FOLLOW A4 NEWBURY FROM JUNCTION 12 M4 OVER TWO ROUNDABOUTS, ON TO DUAL CARRIAGEWAY, TURN LEFT AT COURTYARD HOTEL SIGNPOSTED PADWORTH. OVER RAILWAY AND CANAL BRIDGES AND RDAA CAR PARK IS ON LEFT JUST AFTER SWING BRIDGE. ALSO LAY BY PARKING ON A4, USE FOOTPATH TO BOTTOM OF VENUE
PADWORTH ROTA
Very similar to East Towney but with more features and slightly more depth in parts. Match bags a generally good and consistent throughout the season with quality Perch, Chub, Bream and Roach often showing.
Winning match weights have been over 19lb in the past.
Some large Pike patrol this stretch.

JUST BEFORE DUAL CARRIAGEWAY AND OPPOSITE THE WINNING HAND PUB. GO OVER CANAL AND RIVER, CAR PARK ON LEFT.
EAST TOWNEY
Running parallel to the bottom end of Upper Benyons, this section is a good summer venue with a top match bag of 14lb reported in the past. Specimen and pleasure anglers get returns by way of decent Chub, Perch and the occasional Tench. This area used to have a number of large Carp which occasionally make an appearance.

Theale Canal
LEAVE M4 JUNCTION 12 ON A4 TO NEWBURY, TURN LEFT AT 1ST ROUNDABOUT AND FOLLOWS SIGNS TO THE TRAIN STATION . GO OVER THE RAILWAY BRIDGE TOWARDS BURGHFIELD. OVER RIVER AND CANAL, TURN LEFT AFTER CANAL BRIDGE INTO PUBLIC CAR PARK FOR THE CANAL.
THEALE CANAL
A canal venue that can have some good flow at the top end making it a good venue when the river is up and running.
Big perch and chub show throughout as do roach and a good head of tench.

LEAVE M4 JUNCTION 12 AND TAKE THE A4 TO READING, DUAL CARRIAGEWAY ENDS AT 1ST ROUNDABOUT, CARRY ON THROUGH NEXT SECTION OF DUAL CARRIAGEWAY, PAST LIDL ON RIGHT AND TURN RIGHT AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS (GEORGE AND DRAGON PUB), ON TO BURGHFIELD ROAD. OVER RAILWAY AND CANAL/RIVER, CUNNING MAN PUB ON RIGHT HAND SIDE.
Burghfield canal
PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS NOT BURGHFIELD RIVER SECTION
A greatly underused section, this is mainly due to access with parking being either at the Cunning man or Calcot as the section links both of the venues
Does prove popular throughout the year with roving lure anglers reporting specimen perch and chub to their lures.
Those that do venture out for a dedicated session are often rewarded with decent catches of silvers.
