Fish of the Month 2010-11

We have instigated a way of finding out the distribution of large fish on RDAA venues, called the Fish of the Month Award.

There is in place a specimen trophy for the best fish of each species caught on RDAA venues, but because of the rules these were mainly put forward by members fishing matches.
The additional scheme allows for pleasure anglers as well as match anglers to inform us of what big fish are being caught and where. The reward for the members is that the best reported to us on the prescribed form (available from club secretaries) during any calendar month will be eligible for a free RDAA permit for the following season

The captors' names will be put forward to the Fisheries Team, who will decide which one fish will get the captor a free permit. Anglers have up to 21 days following the capture of the fish to register.

It is won with not necessarily the biggest fish. All aspects of the capture are taken into account: species, weight, where caught, time of year, type of venue, method, etc. So a chub of 6 lb. might beat a carp of 20 lb.

The scheme gives 12 free permits for the 12 months. Any forms submitted that do not get the captor a free permit will be saved to the end of the season, when there are a further four free permits for the best of the rest. So everybody who puts a fish forward gets two bites at the cherry.

Vouchers will be issued to the winners Club and taken as receipt for  a free permit for the next season.

At the moment we are only getting two or three claims each month. Make our job difficult, cause arguments. Next season the forms will be available in the RDAA permit. If you want a chance for a free permit next year, report your fish.
